Anxiety and Panic

Anxiety comes with feelings of worry, nervousness and excessive unease. Not only can it make you feel physically sick but it can bring on panic and compulsive behaviour.  It can stop you doing all the things you could once do easily. Our thoughts can be negative, unrealistic and irrational and our body experiences a chain of events that is designed to help us when we are in real danger – the “fight, flight, freeze or fawn” response.

As a result of this “fight or flight” response we can experience physical symptoms which include:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Feelings of butterflies in the stomach
  • Heart beats faster
  • Palpitations
  • Hot flushes
  • Blushing
  • Sweaty palms
  • Nausea
  • Wanting to go to the loo more often
  • Dizziness
  • Shaking / trembling
  • Dry mouth

These symptoms are very common and it can be helpful to acknowledge they are linked to your anxiety.  When we have these thoughts and feelings it can make you want to hide away from life; experience lapses in concentration and stop doing things you would really like to do. The suffering of anxiety leaves you in a place where your confidence is knocked, your self esteem begins to drop and an increasing amount of worry starts to enter your world.

When we become anxious, we fear either the situation we find ourselves in at that moment, we fear an outcome we have imagined or we have a lack of understanding in what we are entering into. Anxiety is always about “what if?”

But is doesn’t have to be like this forever.

The relief of anxiety is something that I specialise in.  Firstly, it’s important to understand how you suffer with the concerns you do, that you are not alone in these feelings, and what we will do to help you overcome them.

Hypnotherapy and the tools I use, can help you overcome the feelings of anxiety and panic, gain control of your stresses and anxieties in order for you to cope with whatever life has in store so you can live your life in a confident, calmer and productive way.
