Smoking is the primary cause of preventable illness and death with around 96,000 people dying from smoking every year in the UK.
80% of those deaths are from lung cancer or bronchitis and emphysema and around 14% from heart disease.
Most smokers know the facts, they know the harm smoking cigarettes do to the body so why smoke?
Here are some of the reasons clients have given in the past : peer pressure; stress; boredom; to appear more grown up; helps me relax; it is an excuse for a break; to rebel against authority; it helps me concentrate; makes me feel more confident or I use it as a social prop. You may have your own reason to add to this list too.
Because, naturally, we know that smoking is a major cause of mental and physical stress. We also know that we have much more control than we believe we have. Most of us give up when we go to bed, have an operation, go on an airplane or any other places where smoking is not allowed.
With the help of hypnosis, the unconscious mind can be reprogrammed, therefore helping you to rid yourself of the habit. It sounds easy doesn’t it? For Hypnotherapy to work effectively, the desire to want to stop smoking is important. There has to be the motivation to want to make a change and quit smoking. If you have that motivation and desire to stop, then Hypnosis could be the right therapy for you.
I offer two approaches: A three session approach and a One off session.
With both approaches, clients are required to complete a “Stop smoking questionnaire” prior to their first appointment. This helps you identify and pin point your smoking behaviour, which in turn helps me tailor the session/s specifically to suit your needs.
Which approach is right for you?
Clients that opt for the three session approach tend to want support over a longer period of time and want to have the time between session one and two to cut down first. They also have the third session which they can take up to a year later.
The one session approach is more for the “all or nothing” person. The person who has long decided it is time to stop smoking and they just need that extra help to do so.
Both sessions are effective in helping people stop smoking. There is no one size fits all. I am happy to discuss which approach is best suited to you.
If you are ready and would like my support, then please do contact me for more information or to book your session/s.
